Ted's Music Ideas

Welcome to my Music Ideas page. You can listen to clips of songs that I'm working on here.

(If you would like to interact with them... be kind, but I'm open to your opinions or suggestions... I usually go through a process of 7 or 8 re-writes... and these are on 3 or 4... please email me with your ideas and suggestions)

New Songs - (in process):
  • Broken for Good
  • Close The Distance
  • Harvest of Holiness
  • I Will Walk In Victory
  • Not As Strong
  • Wash Me

  • I also thought that I'd give you a little of my 'philosophy,' of music (I will only scratch the surface here)…

    I am a musician:

I believe that my music should be beautiful… pleasing to hear, good feel, nice groove… something that can reach inside and touch your very soul. So, I strive to write good music… technically accurate, skillfully constructed, and with great form. The foundation must be excellent. Therefore, I am a perpetual student. I constantly study good music, analyze form and function, play through a variety of styles and types to dissect and discover how they are put together, how the chord structure fits, how the melody moves and conveys the message of the lyric, and more. I’m hungry for knowledge in this area because it is the foundation of what I am trying to do. I want my listeners to be able to trust the musicality of my creations.

    I am an artist:

I love beauty, and want to share the beauty I see and experience… the beauty of the physical make-up of music and sound production, the beauty of melody and harmony, the beauty of variety, complexity, simplicity, the beauty of emotional expression through music, the beauty of nature, life experience, relational interaction, philosophy, ideas, truth, and more. You may also find an eclectic mix of styles and expression in my music. Identifying a characteristic style might be a challenge, but this variety keeps me interested and always ready to try something new.

    I am a messenger:

A friend paid me the highest compliment when he said, "Ted’s musical expertise is second only to his message." I have a calling. My music is a tool I use in fulfillment of my calling. My calling is to speak God’s thoughts and ways to His people. My formal education has trained me to be a pastor, teacher and preacher. Early in my development as a follower of Christ, I understood that God had given me a gift in my music ability and training. I desire to contribute good music to the Church and abroad that speaks to hearts, conveys truth, teaches the Word of God and is theologically sound. I made a conscious decision to pursue a formal education in Biblical theology and pastoral care while simultaneously pursuing a private education in music theory, composition, conducting, instrumental playing, and vocal production. So, that's my goal… I guess you'll have to be the judge of whether it is yet successful! I've been writing for a long time, but I feel that I'm still very much a student as I continue to hone this craft and skill.
